E-learning platform with mentors

Future Collars is a e-learning platform which allows to conduct intensive interactive courses lead by mentors during daily webinars and virtual sessions. This product brings the joy of both words: creative remote collaboration with mentors and peers and individual studies with personal development supported by gamification. Future Collars meets the needs of the modern labour market by offering a flexible and effective e-learning model for individuals as well as corporations. Thanks to the use of the potential offered by new technologies, it enables a fast development path in digital services such as programming, product design and testing thereby promoting the trend of Life-Long Learning.

Service Design

We’ve started with service design workshops which allowed us to understand the needs and goals for the project. During the workshops, we were able to analyse the initial information about the product expectations and prioritize the feature set so that to complete the most important parts of the system during early releases.

What is more, we have discovered that several parts of the final product are related to the existing technologies and there is no need to reinvent the wheel from scratch. Therefore in our final recommendations, we’ve included several integrations such as VS Code, ZOOM and RocketChat.

Rocket Chat ZOOM

The key takeaway from the service design workshops was the fact that we need to build the platform with the real-life experience. Therefore we decided to build an environment equipped with three tools widely used by developers: VS Code, Rocket Chat and ZOOM app for video conferencing. Firstly, we’ve experimented with writing the plugin to the VS Code so that the students write the code in VS Code which is automatically tested and the results are communicated to the mentors who can support their students along their educational journey. This means that the main focus in on actual practice and experience with real programming interfaces which gives the students an invaluable edge during their future job applications. Secondly, we’ve integrated with Rocket Chat to streamline the group work and enable the communication on the internal channels between the students and mentors which is supervised by the Future Collars team. Last but  not least we have integrated with the ZOOM app making all the webinars accessible in the app directly after the live performance so that the users can easily remaster and synthesize the knowledge acquired during the live session.

The process of learning takes place on the e-learning platform. Live lessons are conducted by experienced IT practitioners, who provide individual support and supervise the learning progress online. This flexible model allows you to acquire new practical skills without having to give up your current duties. Thanks to the combination of these three elements: mentor, remote learning and teamwork, studying is very effective and rewarding. The Future Collars project also provides opportunities for those who cannot access education due to their mobility limitations, distance from the city or other barriers that prevent access to innovative education.

What is more, this platform connects trainees with potential employers so that their career after the course can start immediately taking their career to another level.

Gamification

What is special about the Future Collars system is the fact that it offers complex educational courses completely online, making them more scalable and accessible for a greater audience. The secret sauce is the special program during which students are incentivised to further develop their skills in particular areas using the extended materials and additional exercises. Each unit consists of the live lessons supported by the articles and digital materials. In order to progress to the next unit student is required to complete the current tasks.
